Jairus' mom went for a more round leaf, while my mom took a little artistic license with the jagged leaves, but they're clearly painted from the same photograph. I really want to know where and when Jairus' mom got the inspiration for hers.
The inspiration came from a common implanted archtype, perhaps this impalnted archtype was part of the greater machinations of a diabolic psycologist bent on manipulating the minds of the mothers of creative types world wide. His plan will culminate in the production of seemingly unrelated artistic works (BTJ, Jarius' original works, etc. etc.) that are in reality just small peices of a massive opus meant to rule the world.........
or maybe the picture is featured in a Bob Ross "How to Paint a Happy Sunset" how to book.
She's kinda dead, so I can't really ask her. My brothers, however, find it all deliciously mysterious and are curious to learn the origin of this coincidence.
Well that's really freaky since my mom was living in Gresham at the time she painted hers.
I think it's probably like Camera #2 said -- it was probably a photograph in some painting book in the seventies...??
You know, my mom was a total packrat and I inherited pretty much everything in her art room when she died. I bet if I looked through her stuff, I could find something having to do with the painting, be it a photograph or sketches or something.
If only all that stuff wasn't in the basement where the spiders and bats live.....

A story of music, and how it set a young man freeâ¦one song at a time.
Filmed before a sold-out audience in Portland, this concert film of the popular stageshow features three decadesâ worth of rock and metal classics performed by a live band.
Rick Emerson relives the comedy and tragedy, the highs and lows, and the isolation and ultimate redemption of a small-town kid transformed by music. From the first time hearing the crushing chords of Led Zeppelin, to the buy-in of Kurt Cobainâs âgenius,â to the sell-out of Metallica, Bigger Than Jesus: The Diary of a Rock and Roll Fan is a love letter to the music that forms the soundtrack of our lives.

WOW!! I'm telling you, there is a narrative hiding in this mystery somewhere. It must be written. Very interesting indeed.

So, Jairus, was your mom living in Calif. or here when she borrowed it from her friend and painted it?
